Telepractice is the application of telecommunications technology to the delivery of speech-language pathology professional services at a distance, by linking the clinician to the client, or the clinician to another clinician, for assessment, intervention, and/or consultation. In other words, you can obtain Shaun's SLP services from the comfort of your own computer!
Telepractice allows an SLP to simulate an in-person visit. Whether it be direct instruction, strategy demonstration, goal discussion, instant feedback, problem-solving, or general consulting, Shaun can do it online! Additionally, telepractice affords some advantages over in-person sessions, including: the elimination of travel time, a reduction in missed visits due to illness, increased generalization of skills, services delivered in customizable increments, and the ability to mirror AAC/AT device use. Telepractice is the logical choice for people who may not otherwise be able to receive the specialized services they need.
Sessions are run via an online platform that is secure, private, and safeguarded (HIPAA compliant). It is possible to use the video platform directly through a Chrome browser, making it accessible with low bandwidth and in rural areas.
